Hone your filing and polishing skills with our quality Brazilian soapstone kits. We’ve cut out the basic silhouette of a seal into a piece of solid soapstone. Now you apply the artist’s touch and take it to the next level. By using the included tools, you’ll smooth and shape the rock into a fully rounded figurine. Then polish and wax the figure over time to bring out the stone’s true color and luster. A soothing and satisfying way to pass some time, you can create a truly amazing stone sculpture in 90 minutes with no previous experience. Includes pre-cut soapstone sculpture (approx. 4” l  x 1”w), file, course & fine sand paper, wax, polishing cloth and instructions. For ages 8+.

Step-by step illustrated instructions guide you through the process. You provide a small towel and a bowl with water. You’ll want to keep the stone wet during the carving and sanding stages to minimize the dry dust. This product was originally designed for in-school art class programs.

Fun fact: This soapstone is sourced from Brazil. The outer layers of the Christ the Redeemer sculpture in Rio de Janeiro are made of soapstone!
