Steam engines were originally created in the Industrial Revolution and featured a heat engine that created mechanical work using steam as power. This engine was used for over 150 years and powered vehicles to factories. These engines replaced sails that were used for ships on paddle steamers as well as steam locomotives that operated on railways.
